Steroid Induced Osteoporosis with Increased Spinal Pathology Including Microfractures, Collapse and Degeneration - Medical Illustration, Human Anatomy Drawing
This medical exhibit uses four images to demonstrate steroid induced ostoporosis with resulting spinal pathologies. Image one orients the viewer to the location of the injury - the cervical spine. Three images to the right demonstrate the progressive degeneration of the injured spine. The image at top shows the original condition before steriods are introducd. There exists mild degeneration of the intervertebral facet joints. Post steroid use, in the next image shows microfractures in these joints and the vertebral bodies. The final images shows compression of the nerve roots in the area as well as widespread degeneration and collapse of the vertebral bodies.
